The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Recently completed roundabout at CTH-Y and I-43 but shortly after the opening of the new interchange and number of accidents occurred and it was determined that the installation of a High Friction Surface Treatment would reduce the number of accidents that were due to slick conditions or excessive speeds. Along with the HFST, High Intensity pavement marking were added for increased sight distance to the traveling public.
As per the contract Specification the Wisconsin Department of Transportation only allowed for a total of 8 working days to complete all the work associated with the project but it also only allowed to work on one location at a time. Due to the number of pavement marking associated with the project the subcontractor needed the same amount of time to complete their scope of work as RAM needed to complete the HFST. With excellent communication and execution of all parties with favorable weather the project was complete ahead of the required time.
