Interstate 465, also known as the USS Indianapolis Memorial Highway, is the beltway circling Indianapolis, Indiana and has a total length of 53 Miles. The Indiana Department of Transportation selected the Eastbound and Westbound Structures carrying traffic over the White River on the Southwest portion of the I-465 beltway for an Epoxy Concrete Overlay, which waterproofs the surface and also adds friction for safety.
Originally this project was to be completed in September of 2013 but due to a conflicting high importance project the Indiana Department of Transportation requested that the Project be delayed until the summer of 2014. As with most interstate projects the working hours can be restricted and in the case due to the maintenance of traffic plan work was only allowed during the weekends. After further review RAM proposed an alternative maintenance of traffic plan that would still meet the guidelines of the interstate lane closure policy but would allow for weekday work in addition to the weekend. With the additional working hours and RAM increasing manpower and equipment, RAM completed the 118,206 SF of Epoxy Concrete Overlay and associated work items in under 14 calendar days.
