The IDS Center is an office tower located in downtown Minneapolis. When built in 1972, it was the tallest building in the state at 792 feet. The IDS Center’s 57 stories are home to many offices, 2 stories of retail space, the 19 story Marquette Hotel and the 7-story Crystal Court made famous by the Mary Tyler Moore show.
The project presented many challenges with its 24/7 operation. Noise and dust monitoring were a constant part of the project in order to protect pedestrians using the ramp. Traffic control was needed, and modified, daily in order to keep the majority of the ramp available to vehicles. While most of our work was in the underground garage, we also completed repairs on the cooling towers located on the top of the 792 foot building.
