With an extensive list of States that RAM Construction Services of Michigan is Prequalified to preform work in; RAM has been selected by Community Asphalt to perform all the bridge rehabilitation for the Florida Department of Transportation Project T5519 in Melbourne Florida.
The Melbourne Causeway carries traffic from mainland Florida over the Indiana River Lagoon to the East Coast Peninsula and the Scenic and Historical A1A Byway. The Florida Department of Transportation selected the main structure which is officially known as the Ernest Kouwen-Hoven Bridge. The bridge is actually made up of two separate structures that maintain 2 lanes of traffic in each direction along with a pedestrian sidewalk. Both bridges are 2592 feet long, with a total surface area of 207,228 SF.
The bridge rehabilitation work performed by RAM included a Double Layer Epoxy Concrete Overlay, 914 Lineal Feet of a 2 Component Silicone Joint Sealant, 184 Lineal Feet of Modular Joint Removal and Header Installation, and sidewalk sealing utilizing and High Molecular Weight Methacrylate Sealer.
