On May 17, 2017, the plans for the new dental clinic received final approval from the City of Cleveland's Planning Commission. CWRU will build a standalone clinic on Chester Avenue at East 93rd Street in Cleveland, Ohio. Within the walls of the building will hold dental medicine, medicine, and nursing.
The amazing three-story 129,000 square foot building is designed for ease of future expansion; its rectangular shape allows for a 36,000 square-foot addition, with basement space available for conversion. The School of Dental Medicine estimates that it provides more than $5 million in free dental services annually to Clevelanders.
RAM Construction Services provided the waterproofing for the basement portion of the project. It required the waterproofing of a double car passage elevator and a freight elevator. Due to the elevated water table, RAM performed underslab waterproofing in addition to the exterior walls of the elevator pits. The basement walls of building required a waterproofing system that was 15,000 square feet in size.
This building will bring great things for the health care industry, and the people involved for many years to come.
