The Lofts apartment complex is located at 26 Sheldon Blvd SE and was constructed in 1924 originally as a Medical Arts facility. It was listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 2000 as part of the Heartside Historic District. The building was purchased by Eenhorn Properties in 1998 and was transformed into its current use. It houses several businesses including a salon and a coffee shop on the ground floor; the remaining 5 floors contain 62 apartments (1 or 2-bedroom units). The brick façade was showing signs of deterioration shortly after 2017 and plans for restoration followed.
Ram Construction Services began the restoration on the building in May of 2018. The restoration of The Lofts Building had its obstacles, the largest being the foot traffic we experienced between residents and customers. Once the restoration had begun we quickly realized that brick replacement and tuck-pointing was not going to be enough for us to feel comfortable leaving. It was decided that the entire chimney needed reconstruction as well as a tinted waterproof coating around the entire exterior. This was a challenge for the RAM team due to time constraints but we took the extra work in stride. As you can imagine the original brick on the exterior of the building appeared weathered and dull, but our tinted coating has transformed The Lofts in to a water tight modern looking facility.
