The new Wayne County Airport Authority Administration Building was built in order to bring together the Willow Run and Metro Airport operations and Management department under one roof. The New WCAA Admin Building is comprised of four floors and roughly 84,000 Sq. Ft. of space and connected to the North Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport. The project had also gained its LEED certification due in part by the Owner, Architect and General Contractor continually pushing to achieve that high standard.
RAM had a number of different scopes throughout the project. These included waterproofing foundations at the start of construction and finish caulking at the very end of the project. Some other scopes included five inches of closed cell spray foam insulation at all the first floor soffit areas and a 15 minute thermal barrier top coat to cover up the foam. One of the last and most difficult items came with the 7” and 10” exterior expansion joints between the new and existing buildings. Due in part to constructability issues with the original design our Foreman had to think on his feet and re-configure the terminations and transitions during install. The end product turned out great on an over tough project.
